Brevard Family Partnership, in partnership with the Avenue Viera will host its sixth annual “Walk for Love” to raise awareness about child adoptions on Saturday, November 19. Check-in begins at 8:15 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9:00 a.m.

For the fifth straight year, Brevard Family Partnership has exceeded its goal for adoptions of children in foster care. In the just completed fiscal year, which ran from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011, fifty-nine children of all ages were joined with families.

Brevard CARES was recognized by the Child Abuse Prevention Task Force of Brevard for its child abuse prevention efforts with the presentation of the Social Service Award for Group or Team Field Work at the task force’s 15th annual Child Abuse Prevention Awards Banquet.

Brevard Family Partnership CEO, Dr. Patricia Nellius, received the "Children's Hero" award, one of three presented to community leaders by Eckerd Youth Alternatives at the organization’s “Brevard Walk of Fame” gala on March 5. Dr. Nellius was recognized for her talent in transitioning Brevard County's child welfare system of care and dramatically improving the safety of at-risk children.

Dr. Robert Cross, a world-renowned psychologist in the field of adolescent and adult mental health will be recognized by Brevard Family Partnership for over five years of volunteer service to the children and families served by Brevard County’s lead child welfare agency. The recognition will take place during BFP’s January board of directors’ meeting on Thursday, January 27.

Cyndi Hernandez, public relations coordinator for Brevard Family Partnership, Brevard County’s lead child welfare agency, received the Support Staff of the Year award from the Florida Coalition for Children at their annual conference, held recently in Jacksonville, FL. Hernandez was the first statewide recipient of the new award.

Brevard Family Partnership recently accepted a gift over $10,000 in network technology equipment from Total Care IT, in collaboration with Tech Data Corporation. Three Brocade switches were donated which will allow more active data ports operating at a higher speed, from 100 Mb/second to 1 Gb/second, resulting in additional employee productivity and efficiency.

Brevard County Dependency Court Judge Charlie Crawford will celebrate Family Reunification Day on Friday, June 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in his courtroom at the Moore Justice Center – 2825 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera. The event will honor those parents who have successfully completed a case plan and regained custody of their children.

Brevard Family Partnership (BFP) has been awarded a grant from the Community Foundation of Brevard to provide supplemental educational services to youth who have aged out of foster care so that they may acquire their GED and pass the FCAT. The award was presented at a Grant Award Ceremony on September 1, at the Space Coast Early Intervention Center in Melbourne.
