Apr. 15, 2014 - Brevard Advocates Meet with Legislators During Children's Week

19 residents of Brevard County have returned from Tallahassee where they met with state legislators to advocate for a strong, community-based care system for abused and neglected children. The trip was conducted in conjunction with Children’s Week, an annual recognition of important children’s issues in Florida that calls to attention to childhood health, safety and development.

Mar. 27, 2014 - April is Child Abuse Prevention Month - Local Activities in Brevard

To promote awareness of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Child Abuse Prevention Task Force of Brevard County will host several events and activities to spread a community-wide message that everyone can help prevent child abuse and neglect. The official kick-off for the month’s events will take place on Saturday, April 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Squid Lips Overwater Grill in Melbourne.

Mar. 25, 2014 - Wraparound conference draws international attendance

Brevard Family Partnership and The National Center for Innovation & Excellence hosted its second national Wraparound conference in Cocoa Beach, FL. Over 300 social service professionals from 32 U.S. states, Canada and three African nations attended.

Jan. 8, 2014 - New law allows young adults to remain in foster care until 21st birthday

The Florida Department of Children and Families, along with Brevard Family Partnership and Community Based Care partner organizations across the state, welcomed the New Year with a new law that provides teens who turn 18 while in foster care the opportunity to remain in foster care.

Nov. 18, 2013 - Brevard Bar Foundation Donates $1,000 for Holiday Gifts

The Brevard Bar Foundation is helping to ensure that youth in foster care who won’t be in their own homes for the holidays will be remembered on their special day. The Foundation recently presented a check for $1,000 to Brevard Family Partnership to buy toys and gifts for children and teens ranging in age from one to 18 years.

Sep. 3, 2013 - BFP Communication Staff Receive Local PR Awards

Two members of Brevard Family Partnership’s communication team have been recognized by the Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association for their work and contributions to the profession and in the local community. Geo Ropert, APR was recognized as the Public Relations Professional of the Year and Stephanie Strodtman received the Rising Star award.

Jul. 1, 2013 - BFP Signs $100M 5-Year Contract with DCF

With just days before its contract was set to expire, Brevard Family Partnership has completed negotiations with the Florida Department of Children and Families and has received a new, five-year $100M contract to manage the child welfare system of care in Brevard County.

Jun. 14, 2013 - Trauma Informed Care - Positive Youth Development Initiative Rollout

BFP is launching a new initiative with the goal of understanding and addressing the trauma endured and improving the lives of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. A rollout of the Trauma Informed Care – Positive Youth Development initiative will take place at a community-wide summit on Thursday, June 20 at the Holiday Inn Viera.

Jun. 11, 2013 - BFP receives expedited reaccreditation through national organization

BFP received notice from the Council on Accreditation that it had been reaccredited. COA accreditation is a national, objective, independent, and reliable validation of an organization’s performance. The agency’s reaccreditation was expedited as a result of not receiving any out-of-compliance ratings in any of the fundamental practice standards.

Jun. 3, 2013 - Celebration of Adoption event will join foster youth with “forever families

17 children in foster care, ranging in age from two to fifteen years, will become part of “forever families” – the term used to describe adoptive families – during a “Celebration of Adoption” on Friday, June 7, at 12:30 p.m. in the courtroom of Dependency Court Judge, Jeffery Mahl . For the seventh straight year, BFP says it expects to exceed its annual adoption goal.

For the fifth straight year, Brevard Family Partnership has exceeded its goal for adoptions of children in foster care. In the just completed fiscal year, which ran from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011, fifty-nine children of all ages were joined with families.

Jul. 19, 2010 - Total Care IT makes $10K equipment donation to Brevard Family Partnership

Brevard Family Partnership recently accepted a gift over $10,000 in network technology equipment from Total Care IT, in collaboration with Tech Data Corporation. Three Brocade switches were donated which will allow more active data ports operating at a higher speed, from 100 Mb/second to 1 Gb/second, resulting in additional employee productivity and efficiency.

Jun. 21, 2010 - June 25 is Family Reunification Day at the Moore Justice Center

Brevard County Dependency Court Judge Charlie Crawford will celebrate Family Reunification Day on Friday, June 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in his courtroom at the Moore Justice Center – 2825 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera. The event will honor those parents who have successfully completed a case plan and regained custody of their children.
