Aug. 12, 2011 - 3,000 Adoptions of FL Children in Foster Care Last Year
Over the last four years, Florida has found adoptive families for nearly 14,000 foster care children — more than 3,000 of those were adopted last year alone. Still, roughly 800 foster children are waiting for loving parents to give them a permanent home and a bright future. The majority of children in foster care who dream of being adopted are teenagers.

Thirteen children now have a reason to smile for the holidays: They’ve been adopted. At a special ceremony Thursday at the Brevard County Courthouse, the children were legally allowed to join their new families. November is National Adoption Month, and the ceremony was made possible by Brevard Family Partnership.

The Florida Department of Children & Families ACCESS Application Center located at 705 Blake Avenue, Bldg E, Room ES8 in Cocoa will relocate to Byrd Plaza, 801 Dixon Blvd, Suite 1103 in Cocoa. The current Center will close at 3 p.m. on January 5, 2010, and the new Center will be open for business on January 7, 2010.

Community Based Care of Brevard, Brevard County’s lead child welfare agency announced it ranked sixth nationally, in the top 100 small employee group businesses (1-100 employees) on the Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America list, recently released by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
