Aug. 12, 2011 - 3,000 Adoptions of FL Children in Foster Care Last Year

Over the last four years, Florida has found adoptive families for nearly 14,000 foster care children — more than 3,000 of those were adopted last year alone. Still, roughly 800 foster children are waiting for loving parents to give them a permanent home and a bright future. The majority of children in foster care who dream of being adopted are teenagers.

May. 10, 2011 - Florida Legislature Reduces BFP Funding - Cuts May Affect Programs/Services

A surprise, last-minute amendment to Senate Bill 2146 will reduce the core funding of certain Community Based Care agencies under the guise of creating funding "equity" and penalize high-performing agencies, including Brevard Family Partnership, that have successfully reduced the number of children in the formal dependency system.

Jan. 7, 2011 - DCF Urges Floridians to Be Aware of the Dangers of Human Trafficking

Jan. 11 is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day TALLAHASSEE - Human trafficking is a devastating human rights violation and a human tragedy. In recognition of January 11, 2011, National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) urges all Floridians to learn more about human trafficking and join efforts to put an end to this horrific crime.

Nov. 20, 2010 - Over 400 Walk for Love at the Avenue

The reading of a proclamation from the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners naming November 20 as “National Adoption Day in Brevard” kicked off Brevard Family Partnership’s fifth annual “Walk for Love” to raise awareness of Brevard County children who are available for adoption.

Nov. 19, 2010 - 13 Brevard children find families for National Adoption Month

Thirteen children now have a reason to smile for the holidays: They’ve been adopted. At a special ceremony Thursday at the Brevard County Courthouse, the children were legally allowed to join their new families. November is National Adoption Month, and the ceremony was made possible by Brevard Family Partnership.

Nathan Ebel, a boisterous blond 2-year-old, grinned and clutched a tan stuffed puppy moments before joining his new family. But first, his future brother Travis, 11, had to stand before a judge and vow a solemn oath in a packed courtroom: "Do you promise, swear or affirm that you will help keep his room clean so he doesn't get in trouble?"

Sep. 12, 2010 - Honor grandparents raising grandkids - FL Today Sept. 12, 2010

Today is Grandparents Day, set aside to honor and recognize the grandparents in our communities who guide, support and nurture their grandchildren. It’s also a time to recognize those special grandparents who act as primary caregivers to their grandchildren. In Brevard, over 6,300 children are being raised by their grandparents.

Jan. 4, 2010 - DCF Moves Cocoa Office

The Florida Department of Children & Families ACCESS Application Center located at 705 Blake Avenue, Bldg E, Room ES8 in Cocoa will relocate to Byrd Plaza, 801 Dixon Blvd, Suite 1103 in Cocoa. The current Center will close at 3 p.m. on January 5, 2010, and the new Center will be open for business on January 7, 2010.

Nov. 2, 2009 - Governor Crist Announces November as National Adoption Month

May. 11, 2009 - CBC of Brevard named one of America's best adoption-friendly workplaces

Community Based Care of Brevard, Brevard County’s lead child welfare agency announced it ranked sixth nationally, in the top 100 small employee group businesses (1-100 employees) on the Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America list, recently released by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
